To me, Slayer’s set was something of a conciliatory statement for the not-so-good start Sonisphere festival had once again had. As I didn’t get to shoot Motörhead or Metallica, I hopped on the next train home wondering if this might have been the last time we’ve seen Sonisphere in Switzerland.
The first of the promoters, Free&Virgin, went bankrupt over the first two editions of the festival, and now all three big promoters (Zurich-based GoodNews, Free&Virgin heir/successor Starclick, and French-speaking-part specialist Opus One) collaboratively couldn’t make it a better experience, despite having organized tons of mega events like this one before. If I were them, I’d just wave Sonisphere goodbye. We can do better than that – and do the artists, who all gave a great performance, better justice.
